I grew up in a very small, tight-knit community, surrounded by nature, right in the heart of the Western Cape, South Africa. The quietness of the small town inspired me to explore the loudness of the world around me.
I graduated from Cape Peninsula University of Technology with a Bachelors in Education. I have been teaching for the past 11 years, exploring different curriculums and learning wherever I go. I have taught in South Korea, South Africa and most recently in Abu Dhabi, in the UAE.
Throughout my teaching career I have had the pleasure to teach children from all over and I have learned from them just as much as they have learned from me. I believe that all children have a hunger to learn and it takes an invested teacher to prepare each special course.
By teaching with people from around the world, I have gathered knowledge, learned from others and accumulated excellent teaching practises that I am able to implement in my class, which enables me to reach different minds.
I believe that children should be educated, but never forget to have fun whilst learning. Creating a happy environment where children are free to be themselves, and where children are encouraged to be independent thinkers is of utmost importance to me.
I am inquisitive by nature and love to learn and this is something that I instill in my children. I encourage them to ask questions, to learn more and most importantly, I encourage them to take what they learned in the classroom and carry it with them wherever they go.
