The four years of elementary school are a special period in a child’s life. A preschool child becomes a real school child in four years: he acquires the skills that are needed for his independent learning and discovery of the world around him; he sees his own values, strengths and acknowledges those of others; feels responsible for his community and tries to participate in building it; learns to communicate with peers, teachers and his wider environment; becomes capable of independent, logical thinking. In the meantime, of course, he remains a playful, self-absorbed, curious child.
It is a great privilege for me that I can be a part of this process and help my students along the way. In my lessons, I use a variety of playful methods in accordance with the age of the children, my goal is that they take part in the learning process with pleasure and experience success. In addition to in-depth individual work, I also like to use cooperative teaching methods, which teach cooperation and support the feeling of belonging tot he same community. I like using different information communication tools in the teaching process, which motivate the children and make learning experience more efficient. I regularly organize leisure and community-building programmes for my students.
However, real success can only be reached together by children, parents, teachers. I believe that the close and mutually supportive cooperation of this trio, based on trust, is the basis of the development of our little students and their happy elementary school years.
