The Autumn season always showcases the power of collaboration and community-building at Brit-Magyar School. Twice every year, we organise a family day, where students, parents and teachers participate together in a range of activities, bringing delicious treats for fundraising purposes. Why is this collaboration important and what is the significance of joint school fundraising?
Family day events and school fundraisers are not just about raising money for the school. These events provide opportunities for community building and networking. Parents, students, and teachers collaborate in organizing and executing the programs, bringing the school and families closer together. Students and teachers benefit from a learning experience as they organise and execute such events, developing valuable skills. These events set an example for children, demonstrating the importance of achieving common goals, volunteering and working together, which are crucial values to build upon in their lives.
During these events, the cohesive power of the community strengthens. This unity has long-term positive effects on both the school and the entire community. These events provide opportunities for families to get to know teachers better and for children to spend time with each other outside of the classroom.
Joint fundraising is an essential resource for the school. Such fundraisers provide financial support for future community events, thereby preventing any impact on school budgets assigned for teaching and learning resources. More community events raise more funds for future community events; a self-perpetuating cycle.
Finally, and most importantly, these Family Days are fun. At Brit Magyar, anything fun is worthwhile!
